NYPD Driver Training Unit Coin
The NYPD Driver Training Unit is responsible for preparing and certifying officers in safe, effective emergency vehicle operation—a critical component of police readiness. Located at the Floyd Bennett Field training facility in Brooklyn, this specialized unit ensures that members of the service are equipped to handle high-pressure driving situations with precision and discipline. It also holds personal significance to Empire Original Designs, as it was while working at the Driver Training Unit in 2015 that founder Damian Korman first envisioned the idea for the company. The very first coin ever created by Empire honored this unit, marking the beginning of what would become a long line of law enforcement and fire department coins. To celebrate our 10th Anniversary, we’re proud to include the original NYPD Driver Training Unit coin in this month’s Empire Collectors Club subscription box—a tribute to where it all began.
The Friendly Firehouse Coin
FDNY Engine 309 and Ladder 159, proudly known as "The Friendly Firehouse," are located at 1851 East 48th Street in the Flatlands neighborhood of Brooklyn. Serving the community since 1927, they operate under Battalion 33 and Division 15, providing fire suppression, rescue, and emergency services to southeastern Brooklyn. This firehouse holds special significance to Empire Original Designs—it was the very first FDNY and fire-themed coin the company ever created, back in 2015. As part of our 10th Anniversary celebration, we’re honoring our roots by including that original Engine 309/Ladder 159 coin in this month’s Empire Collectors Club subscription box. This commemorative release pays tribute not only to a historic house but also to the beginning of our journey in honoring first responders through our designs.

The Brotherhood for the Fallen NYC is a remarkable organization made up of active-duty NYPD officers dedicated to honoring the lives of police officers killed in the line of duty across the United States. Members travel at their own expense to attend funerals, offering support to the families and departments of the fallen while standing as a symbol of solidarity and respect. This powerful mission resonated deeply with Empire Original Designs, making the Brotherhood for the Fallen NYC the very first charity organization we partnered with back in 2015. Supporting their cause marked the beginning of our long-standing commitment to giving back to the law enforcement community, and we remain honored to have started our charitable journey with such a meaningful organization.

How are the Empire Collectors' Club coins different?
As an Empire Collectors' Club subscriber you receive an exclusive one-time run of unique Empire Original challenge coins. These are coins from legitimate agencies and these are versions of those coins that will only be offered in the Empire Collectors' Club. You will not be able to find these versions of these coins anywhere else.
We will never remake the coin you receive with the same unique design elements, metals and colors. The uniqueness of your exclusive subscriber coins adds to the value of each coin.
